Summer weather is finally here and that means Dragon Boat season is getting underway! With such a strong dragon-boating tradition in this great city of Toronto, I was inspired to craft a design specifically to celebrate and showcase the cultural tradition of dragon-boating itself and Toronto's own annual dragon boat race festival which you can find more information about at www.dragonboats.com (Note: we have no affililation with the festival).
The Design
This original line art design from the JP Signature Series features an exciting scene from a riveting dragon boat race with the sun shining brightly amongst stylized clouds hovering over a dragon boat that's coming alive, carrying a diverse team of strong dragon boaters paddling away towards the finish line, all set against the beautiful Toronto cityscape behind them. The packages in the water beneath them are actually sticky rice dumplings, as reference to the most widely known story of the ancient legend behind the dragon boat and Duan Wu festival.
